Outings for 2025

Our meeting on May 14th, “King Charles II and Newmarket” will be very quickly followed by our excursion to Newmarket on May 16th – that is 2 days later.    The third Friday in the month usually comes in the third week – however, NOT THIS YEAR!
There are 28 members on the list for this excursion, 17 have paid up. The remaining members need to pay IN CASH please – £35 each on Wednesday morning.
We need to take our entrance money in cash – the museum does not accept cheques.
We have two minibuses for the trip and will leave Sudbury Bus Station at the usual time of 9am.  We should arrive around 10am when the Museum opens. There are some very old and interesting buildings in the high street, and shops and cafes of course. If you decide to eat lunch in the museum restaurant you will need to book when we arrive – it gets booked up very quickly most days by residents. We will leave the Museum at 4pm.

Our second outing of the year will be on July 18th to West Stow Anglo Saxon Village.
We do not have a price yet, but we will open the list at the May meeting.

On Wednesday 13 August there is a visit to The Guildhall in Bury St Edmunds with a guided tour.
The Guildhall contains the only surviving WW2 Operations Room of the Royal Observer Corps – an unsung group of local heroes who were the ‘eyes and ears of the RAF’ during the Battle of Britain.
Details to follow.

The September and November outings are not yet arranged.
